New year, new skin-care

In preparation for the new year, I threw out all of my makeup (except lipstick and mascara). I decided that wearing makeup wasn’t that important to me anymore. What became more important to me was making sure I had healthy natural skin, and that’s where I wanted to invest my time and money.

And, WOW! 2018 is the year of beautiful skin for me! I’m so impressed by the way my face looks these days and I’m content with my decision to go bare-faced. Though I’ve always been insecure about my oily, acne-prone skin, I have found a skin-care routine that takes care of my worries!

Burt’s Bees Peach & Willow Bark Deep Pore Scrub.

Everybody’s skin is different and everyone has individual skin-care needs. However, I am a firm believer that “less is more.” Nobody needs a million expensive products to achieve perfect skin. If anything, simplifying your skin-care routine can have more benefits than scrubbing, rubbing, and applying too many products. All of our bodies come well equipped with the biology to take care of itself. It’s better to work with that biology than try to fight it and work against it.

Instead of buying foundations and concealers to cover my acne-prone, oily skin, I decided to work with it. I did my research and selected a few products that would help my problem areas. Now everything is simple, clean, and healthy. I’ve also learned to have confidence in wearing my naked oily face. That’s been the most rewarding part about throwing out all the cosmetics: just learning to be content with the skin I’m in.
